Can You Put Your PC On The Carpet?

What can you do to make sure that your computer and other electronics are safe when you put them on the carpet? You could of course take extra protective measures before placing them on the floor. You could also consider getting an anti-static wrist strap for all electronics that you use in your home. These two options are certainly very tempting but you really should exercise caution when making the decision to do so.

If you were to be placing your computer tower on the hard floor surface, you should definitely avoid it. The reason is simple; the computer tower’s casing can easily be shattered by dropping it onto the hard floor. In addition, there are too many things that can get crushed or knocked off of your tower, including family pictures, books, and so on. Therefore, placing your computer tower on the floor is never recommended and in fact is one of the biggest reasons why people damage their computers.

When you are placing your computer on the carpet you must realize that it can attract all sorts of dust and corrosion damage. Therefore, placing your computer next to a hot surface will almost certainly invite corrosion damage. In addition, if you have any sort of metal pieces on your computer like wires and bolts, you should avoid placing them on the floor as well.

If you were to be placing your pc on the floor you should make sure that it was placed there with the monitor and keyboard facing down. This will minimize any possibility for any type of electrical damage to occur.

In the event that you did decide to put your computer on the floor it would be wise to purchase a protective pad to place underneath it. This pad should be an interlocking one. The reason that this is important is because when your computer is working away from the floor any sort of movement will cause the screws that hold the monitor to move out of alignment. Over time these can become loose and cause some electrical damage.

If you were ever in the situation of having your computer on the floor you should know that it is not good for your equipment. The first reason is that the dust that is generated due to the equipment hitting the ground is extremely abrasive and can really damage some of the electronics inside of your computer. The other reason is that over time the dirt that is accumulated can catch on fire. If this happens you could potentially see your PC get destroyed.
