It seems that the question of how low should your coffee table be has become almost as common as asking what the best way to clean the house is. In fact, it may be more common. The average person today spends approximately 90% of their time in their house on their desk or sitting at a computer. Many people like to read while they are at work but if you’re reading a book and someone comes by and sits directly in front of you, chances are good that you are going to be talking to them about their day and that’s where the coffee table comes into play. Unfortunately, the coffee table is often forgotten about when it comes to designing the perfect home.
So where does this leave the average person who is wanting to create a different type of living space and perhaps increase the value of their home? How low should your coffee table be? That is one of those questions that will always come up. There are so many things to consider. One of the first things to consider is the people who are going to be using it. If you are thinking of designing a new living space, one that is going to have many guests over, you may want to look at how low you can go.
You also may want to design your new coffee table in a certain way. For example, you can build a lower table around a piece of artwork or architecture. While this may sound strange, you can actually pull it off. The reason why this works so well is because the artwork or structure does not take up any additional room in your home and that makes it appear smaller and shapelier.
Another option is to build a small table along side a chair or on a couch. While this may seem like a bad idea, there are actually times when you just do not have enough room for the coffee table that you are looking at. One example would be if you were having an outdoor patio party. Even though you may want to sit outside, you also may want to have something in the center of the patio that will make it more inviting. That is where the lower table would come in handy.
You should also keep in mind that people tend to bring their own stuff into their homes. Many people stack their belongings in their car. Others may even bring their books in a messenger bag. When you are working on a limited budget, you do not want to spend money trying to fit all of these different pieces in the space allotted for the table. In fact, this would defeat the purpose of purchasing the table in the first place.
So, how low should your coffee table be? It really depends on what you are trying to achieve with it. If you just want to save space, then you may want to purchase a table that sits only two or three feet off the ground. This is usually a smaller table and will allow you to sit down and get comfortable while reading a book. If you are having a large party, then you will probably want to go with a larger table that will allow you to spread out.
