Somehow, trying to arrange objects on a round surface appears to be a lot more complicated than when arranging them on square or rectangular ones. Wrong decisions make the tables look unappealing or overcrowded.

How to decorate your round coffee table
There are several tips that you can follow in order to decorate your round coffee table. In the end, the thing that really matters the most is your personal style and your character.
There are though some basic steps that I would advise you to take in order to achieve the best results possible. Make sure that you apply them in accordance to the decoration of your room, and remember to not overcrowd your coffee table.
Place plants in the center
Small flower pots are always a very earthy solution when it comes to decorating a coffee table. No matter if they are simply green or if they have multiple color, they always tend to brighten and make the coffee table more eye-catching.
In addition, they help the room acquire a more relaxing feeling, due to their soft color and their nice influence they have on almost every person’s mood. Make sure that you buy them as fresh as possible, and take care of them in order to extend their life longevity.
Regarding the kind of the plant, the choice is yours. In my opinion beautiful little plants like the Orchid work great with most coffee table ,although you should decide the kind of plant according to the furniture and the decoration of the room.
This is not an uncommon practice when it comes to decorating a coffee table. I must say that it does work especially well with round coffee tables, as books make the table look heavier and more symmetric.
You could also use magazines instead, but I prefer books because they are stabler and they look more appealing, providing a more eclectic aesthetic to the room, especially when they are slightly oldish and timeworn.
You can place the books in a big stack of for or five book at one side of the coffee table and leave the other blank for your glasses or cups of coffee. Or on the other hand, you could make two smaller stacks of two books each, and place them in each side.
One third option that I have chosen to use lately, is to create three small stack and make a circle with them. In the middle which stays empty, I either place my flower pot, or a big tra with candles such as the beautiful San Miguel Sentiments Candle Garden.
Now this is one of the most famous decoration solution regarding coffee tables undoubtedly. As to the reason why it works particularly well with round coffee tables, the answer is simple enough. Because of the oval shape of the candles.
They bring complete symmetry to a round table, and they can be accompanied with multiple other decorative objects such as trays, books or plants (which we did mention above).
The huge advantage of the scented candles, is their ability to add nice fragrances to the rooms. There are countless different fragrances available in the market, and you can choose between strong or subtler ones if you want to be discreet.
What I would like to note, is to be careful with the shape of the candles. For a round coffee table, I would prefer oval-shaped candles, whereas for a rectangular table square candles are nice too.
You can use bigger or smaller-sized candles, although I personally like to mix them both and choose two or three different sizes for more complexity. If your table has already several decorative objects, I would prefer smaller candles to avoid overcrowding it.
Separate the surface into 2 or 3 sides
This is more of a styling option rather than a decorative one, although I must say that it works very well with the decoration tips I have already suggested. In addition, it can boost their presence, and break their boring symmetry just enough to make it interesting again.
Imagine placing the bigger objects on one side of the coffee table, and the smaller ones on the other. This is an easy way to break the symmetry and try something different. It works best if you have objects of various sizes to decorate your coffee table.
Use a flower vase
This is a great idea regarding the decoration of a coffee table, although it is admittedly from a more feminine perspective. Flowers are a very nice way to bring color into the room, and an amazing chance to use a high quality vase like the OPPS White Ceramic Vase.
A beautiful vase changes the entire structure of the table’s surface, and along with the flowers it helps it look fuller and less distant. There are various vase sizes and shapes from which you can choose, although I would suggest that you do it cautiously.
For instance, a more complex-shaped vase like the WGV Clear Square Twist Block Glass Vase which I love, would be a nice option for a bigger contemporary coffee table. Whereas the HaloVa Ceramic Vase, would be an excellent choice if you had a more compact preferably wooden coffee table, as its design is much simpler.
Keep in mind that when you place a vase with flower on a coffee table, you should always make sure that the vision between the seats is clear enough. Vases with flowers are recommended for bigger and opener places, while empty decorative vases are the ideal solution for smaller rooms.
Make groups of similar items
This is a must-read for the organization freaks. Make small groups of similarly-shaped items or objects that have the same use. For example, you can place your set of candles all together at one side of the table instead of arranging them among other objects.
This way the eye gets less confused and can easily get accustomed with the surface of the coffee table.
If you have multiple similar items that you want to use in order to decorate your table, or if you are a person of sets, make a case of arranging them all together. The coffee table will look more organized, less of a mess and you are going to save some space for extra placements when needed.
Use the shelf
The number of people that forget about the shelves of their coffee tables is surprisingly big. Shelves work great for saving space, and they are extremely useful when it comes to placing objects that you don’t want to be too obvious on the table.
In addition to the above, they help clear the view of the room. If you overcrowd your coffee table with large items, such as large ashtrays or bowls with decorative stones and candles, there is a high chance that you are going to block the view in the room.
Take the time to choose between the items that you really want placed on the surface of your coffee table, and put the rest underneath the table. This is a great way to avoid overcrowding the table, and make it look more appealing to the eye.
Keep it minimal
Well, sometimes less is best. If you like things simple, then you really shouldn’t start purchasing things in order to decorate your coffee table. Round coffee tables tend to work with minimum amounts of items really well, because they don’t have edges.
Even if your round table ir big enough, you shouldn’t put objects that you don’t like in order to fill it. Be practical, and use only the ones that you use regularly, or the ones that you enjoy seeing the most.
For instance, a practical solution would be to keep a tray with the scented candles, because you can light them up and fill the room with nice fragrances. Or, you could keep the ashtrays if you smoke often, to put out your cigarettes.
Placing lots of items on the surface of your coffee table is not obligatory. Keep the things you enjoy using the most, and place the rest on the shelf.
Making a round coffee table look nice with the right decorative choices is not a hard task. You should devote some time into determining which are the items that you like the most, and which of them go well with the furniture and the room decoration.
Be smart with the arrangement of the objects around the table, and don’t be afraid to go asymmetric.
Making your round coffee table seem a bit more interesting is a challenge, which you can achieve if you follow our suggestions. Happy decoration!
