Should You Put A Footstool Near Or Far From The Sofa?

Footstools have always been a common piece of furniture and that is not likely to change in the future. While you might want one for the children or for sitting at the desk when working, most people will place a footstool beside their sofa. The reason being is that they provide an extra seat or extra sitting space and it makes it much easier to relax. They provide comfort and help you sit up straight. So if you are going to add a footstool to your existing furniture, here are some tips that will help you determine where to put it.

One of the best places for a footstool is on a small or skinny sofa. You can get away with placing them on just about any type of sofa. As long as you notice them and pick them up when they are needed, they will not be too obvious. However, most of the time, footstools look better on a wide arm sofa than a narrow arm sofa. So make sure you consider this when deciding where to place them.

If you are looking for extra seating, you might want to put a footstool near the doors to your home. This will allow you to put it right outside of your door and leave it out of the way most of the time. This will also allow you to use it as a footrest when you need it. You will not want to put it too close to the entrance though as you don’t want to put your foot too close to the entrance and end up tripping over it.

If you have tall furniture, such as tables or desks, a footstool can really enhance them. If you have a large desk or table, you will probably want to place it next to the wall so that it is out of the way. Otherwise, place it in an area that has more foot traffic and lots of chairs around. Footstools are great because they can sit low and give you extra height.

When you are buying a footstool for your home, you will want to make sure that it is comfortable. Some people get very nauseous sitting on a low stool. Others suffer from back pain if they have to prop their feet up every few minutes. It is important to choose something that is comfortable and sturdy for the type of furniture you have. If you have to sit on the footstool all day long, you don’t want something too cheap and uncomfortable.

One last thing to think about is how often you will be using the footstools. While they are usually inexpensive, you will want to get one that lasts. It would be a good idea to get a used one if at all possible. This way you know you are not going to have to replace it within a year or two. You can even buy ones that were slightly used only to make sure they still work properly.
