It is hard enough to pick the perfect desk for the office, but have you ever thought about which direction your new office desk should face? Whether toward the window, door, or wall, every direction has its own collection of benefits and drawbacks. The work surface should always be facing southeast, with no obstacles like a window, fence, or balcony in front of the workstation. If you are unsure of which direction to face your desk, try looking down at the desk from a window. You should easily be able to tell which direction is that by simply looking down.
The easiest office desk to face southeast is one that has a view of the northeast sky line. This will give you access to any window that is open or has shades over it. Your seating arrangement for this room should always be done away from windows and doors. Glass and sunlight can cause problems if your reception area is right in the midst of the reception area and you have clients walking through that reception area all day long. The most convenient arrangement for this type of room would be to situate your reception area to be across from the window on the northwest side of the office and have your seating arrangement be done with desks facing southeast.
The vastu shastra does not mention the direction one should set their office desks to when dealing with finances. Financial stability must come before anything else. The vastu shastra for setting up an office desk contains specific instructions concerning the direction the desks should be set up. One must always set one’s desk so that it faces northeast when putting it in a position to face the northeast sky line.
The vastu shastra specifies that one should face the northeast when putting a desk in front of a window. It also says that you should not face your desk to the south, west or northwest. These directions are all contrary to what most people do when setting up their office desks. When a person faces these directions when setting up a desk in a room with a window or a view of a yard there is a tendency for the person to spend all his/her time looking at the view instead of looking at what is on his/her desk.
The problem with facing Northeast when setting up an office desk is that your clientele will inevitably be heading towards that direction to meet with their clients. Your customers will naturally head that way if you are in a business that is oriented towards clients coming in from other states or even other countries.
If you are in a more casual business then you may want to face southwest if you are intending to face clients walking in from the West or from the north. When you face southeast, you will find your clients turning their heads towards your window which means they will probably move away in search of a better view of the office and its surroundings. So while it makes sense from a vastu shastra point of view to face southeast when positioning your office desks it is wrong in some cases.
In order to get the most use out of your desks and to have the most productivity in your day, you need to position them correctly. There is no point in having your desks face the wrong way if you are using them to create a great view or a convenient location to get a client. As such the vastu shastra advises you to turn your desk facing whichever direction best suits your needs.
This direction would also be best for those who are trying to align their offices with a scenic area. So make sure that your desk isn’t facing the wrong way and your entire office furniture can be positioned correctly which will lead to better use of each of the office desks.
